Beecher Fire Protection District is launching Pathway to Preparedness, a community-led effort to evaluate district needs and develop priorities for the future. Guided by the values of Professionalism, Integrity, and Compassion, the district is committed to providing safe, reliable emergency services to every resident.

Today, the district faces urgent challenges:

• Hospital Access: Hospitals are closing and reducing services, increasing transport times and causing longer total call times and fewer available ambulances when you call 911.

• Response Times: Both EMS and fire response times currently exceed national standards, driven by long ambulance transport distances, rising call volume, and limited rail crossings.

• Aging Equipment: Several front-line emergency vehicles are at or past their recommended 15-year replacement age, and new gear regulations add further cost pressure — all while the budget struggles to keep up.

• Staffing: A part-time staffing model, with a heavy reliance on contracted paramedics,  has become unreliable and unsustainable.

• Increasing Costs: Property tax revenue, the district's primary funding source, is capped by state law and growing more slowly than the cost of providing service, creating a widening budget gap.

This fall, we invite the community to join us in a conversation about these challenges and possible solutions through Pathway to Preparedness.

Pathway to Preparedness workshops will be held on September 30 and November 5, 2026, from 6–8 p.m. at the Beecher High School gym. All residents are encouraged to participate.
