Press Release - Structure Fire 511 Woodward Street
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Fire Chief Joe Falaschetti
November 2, 2020

On Monday, November 2nd at approximately 10:42 A.M, the Beecher Fire Protection District responded to a report of a structure fire at 511 Woodward Street. On arrival, crews found a 2 story single family dwelling with heavy smoke and fire showing. Fire crews made an aggressive interior attack to extinguish the main body of fire and spent a great deal of time chasing the fire through the many concealed spaces of this balloon frame constructed home. An excessive amount of overhaul was needed to expose these concealed spaces which prompted the escalation of the alarm. The structure sustained heavy fire damage and is deemed uninhabitable. 1 occupant was treated and released on the scene for smoke inhalation. Damage estimates are unknown at this time and the fire remains under investigation by the Beecher Fire Protection District Fire Investigators.
We would like to credit our Firefighters and those that assisted with the MABAS 2nd Alarm assignment with a job well done. The fire was fought by 32 firefighters, staffing 9 engines, 3 ambulances, 3 tower ladders which responded to the scene along with 7 commanding officers. There were no firefighter injuries reported.
The Beecher Fire Protection District reminds everyone to have working smoke alarms in their homes, whether a single-family dwelling, an apartment or a condo. Have an escape plan, practice it, and be prepared to use it in the event of a fire.
